Christmas at my grandparents house every year is one of my favorite things. I look forward to all of the wonderful food and drink that my grandma prepares including her hot apple cider. I couldn't wait until December to have some, so I made a batch this weekend and sipped on it all weekend. It was just what I needed, especially with the gloomy, rainy weather we have had. This is a delicious beverage to serve at Thanksgiving or Christmas. It will warm all of your guests from the inside out.
Ingredients:
4 cups cranberry juice
10 cups apple juice
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 cinnamon sticks
1 1/2 tsp. whole cloves
Directions:
Tie the cinnamon sticks and whole cloves in a cheese cloth. If you don't have that on hand, you can do like I did and put them into the stockpot with the other ingredients. Later, when the cider is ready, use a small fine mesh strainer to remove the cinnamon sticks and whole cloves. Put all ingredients into a large stockpot. Simmer on low to medium heat until hot and the flavors have melded, about 30 minutes to an hour.
