TC has been working very hard this summer preparing and teaching a psychology class at a small university nearby, so when he said that he had no work to do today, I was pretty excited! I told him it was going to be Lulu and TC's day of fun. haha. Yes, I'm a dork. The day is not over and we have already had a great time. This morning we headed to Linvilla Orchards for the Sweet corn and Blackberry festival. We picked fresh sweet corn, blackberries, peppers and tomatoes. Nothing beats fresh picked produce! They had hay rack rides that drove you around to all of the different crops and you could get off at any stop to pick fresh fruit or veggies. They also have a market full of fresh baked items, produce from their crops and local jams and sauces. It was a lot of fun to pick everything ourselves. We had the corn tonight for dinner and though nothing can compare to Iowa sweet corn in the summer, this was pretty darn good. Still, I can't wait to have some Iowa sweet corn when we are home in August!
This afternoon we headed to the pool. We have had some pretty rainy days recently so it felt good to lay in the sun today and start my new summer read, Twilight. I'm really enjoying the book so far and I like the fact that it is a quick read.
We are heading downtown tonight for the Paolo Nutini concert. I saw him about 3 years ago in Los Angeles for his first CD, These Streets. If you haven't listened to his new CD, Sunny Side Up, it's very different from his first CD, a little folksy with also some 50's and 60's vibes. It took some getting used to, but I'm enjoying it now.
Happy weekend everyone!
